They meet Francis' family who also mistake Eddie for Francis, and, since they do not care for Francis, Eddie is not greeted warmly. The exception is Francis' relative, Joan (Marguerite Chapman), and a relationship forms amidst the confusion of who Eddie really is.

But, after Danny is injured in a fight, Pilon changes his tune and helps Danny and Dolores get together. Frank Morgan was nominated for an Oscar (Best Supporting Actor).
