A bored housewife, Mina (Carole Bouquet), has been married to Georges (Gerard Depardieu) for 15 years, during which time they produced Tommy (Stanislas Crevillen). Now a young teenager, Tommy holds the marriage together. One day Mina goes to the cinema where she meets free-spirited Matthias (Charles Berling), and an affair ensues. When Tommy discovers his mother's secret, he is forced into the role of co-conspirator.
