Barry agreed that when Skeeter reached adulthood, Barry would hire Skeeter as the manager. Thirty years later, Skeeter (now played by Adam Sandler) is working as a handyman for Barry at his luxury hotel. The management position has not come his way. Matters change after Skeeter spends a week babysitting for his sister Wendy's (Courteney Cox) children Patrick and Bobbi (Jonathan Morgan Heit and Laura Ann Kesling). Skeeter entertains them with bedtime stories in which he fantasizes about a better life. Amazingly, the stories come true, and Skeeter tries to use the stories for his own personal gain. Then he learns that it is the children's contributions to the stories that end up coming true, and Patrick and Bobbi have much to do with Skeeter's good–and bad–fortunes.

Nikki Blonsky makes her film debut as tubby teen Tracy Turnblad who, with her best friend Penny Pingleton (Amanda Bynes), dreams of singing and dancing on a local TV show in Baltimore, "The Corny Collins (James Marsden) Show." Tracy wins the audition, but her overprotective stay-at-home mother Edna (John Travolta, in drag in a fat suit) is afraid that Tracy will be picked on for her obesity. Tracy perseveres, and now her nemesis is the TV station manager, Velma Von Tussle (Michelle Pfeiffer), whose daughter Amber (Brittany Snow) holds the title of "Miss Hairspray." When they do perform, the show is hosted by Motormouth Maybelle (Queen Latifah). Tracy believes this is unfair, and with help from others–including Motormouth Maybelle, Motormouth's son and Penny's boyfriend Seaweed (Elijah Kelley), Tracy's boyfriend Link (Zac Efron), her father (Christopher Walken), and her mother–she sets out to integrate the show.

AWESOME MOVIEPRISSY 07/06/2009
ONE OF VIN'S GREATEST MOVIES MY CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN HAVE WATCHED IT OVER AND OVER, DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY IT'S A FAMILY MOVIE VERY ENTERTAINING AND ENJOYABLE FOR ALL AGES

Great family movieAnonymous 04/04/2009
This is a fun family movie. Filled with all the fun aspects of having a bachelor take charge of a family of kids. The acting is perfect for a stiff Navy Lt. who in the end becomes softer and understanding of the emotional dynamics of children and teenagers. We loved it.

Those who relished foul language and shoot em ups for their kicks probably won't like it.

Not enough drama or action.Exposer 05/20/2007
The movie is cute but not enough drama or action. It is a little comical on some parts but most of the movie seems fake. Vin Diesel proved once agoin that he can't act. There is a good car chase seen but thats pretty much all the good action. There is a cute ending showing how good all the kids are. Cute movie. Not amazing.
