  After being told by his boss Marvin (Richard Schiff) that his job is in jeopardy, Harvey Shine (Dustin Hoffman) flies to France for his daughter Susan's (Liane Balaban) wedding. Before he leaves, Harvey promises Marvin that he will be back for a Monday morning meeting to discuss whatever possibilities he may have to retain his job as a jingle writer for TV commercials. Harvey arrives in France only to learn that Susan has chosen her stepfather Brian (James Brolin) to escort her down the aisle. Harvey leaves for the airport. He misses his flight, calls Marvin, and is told that he is fired. While consoling himself at the airport bar, Harvey meets Kate (Emma Thompson) who has her own problems but consoles Harvey, and he returns for the wedding reception where he offers a compassionate toast.

  In this, the final film of Dario Argento's trilogy, American art student Sarah Mandy (Asia Argento) is visiting Rome when she breaks the seal on an ancient urn and, in the process, unwittingly unleashes terror in the form of a plague of witches. Now, Sarah must use her own psychic powers to stop the most powerful witch, "Mother of Tears," from destroying Rome. The first two films in the trilogy are " Suspiria" (1977) and "Inferno" (1980).
