This made-for-TV film resulted in the formation of the Missing Children's Bureau. It is the story of six-year-old Adam and his family's ordeal following his abduction. John Walsh, the boy's father, started the long-time TV program, "America's Most Wanted," dedicated to apprehending criminals. The list of missing children presented at the end of the program resulted in many leads in finding children. Followed by "Adam: His Song Continues."

Beth Buchwald (Rose Byrne) moves into her Manhattan apartment and soon meets her new neighbor, Adam Raki (Hugh Dancy). They form a friendship despite concerns of Beth's mother Rebecca (Amy Irving), and, as their friendship deepens, Beth pulls Adam into the outside world.
