 Newly graduated from New York University with a doctorate in Eastern Philosophy, Dalton (Patrick Swayze) lands a job as a bouncer at the Double Duce road house in Jasper, Missouri. Dalton strikes up a romance with physician Doc Clay (Kelly Lynch) and all goes well–until the town's crime boss, Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara), interferes because Doc is his ex-girlfriend. Now, Dalton uses his "college knowledge" to fend off Wesley.
